Startegic Plan
The Early Childhood Development Coalition is accountable to:
- Advocate and recommend to the North Okanagan Child, Youth and Family Committee about service delivery system’s strengths and gaps based on community input.
- Prioritize and achieve effective, sustainable ECD services.
Strategic Issues and Priorities for Action - February 2003:
1. Development of Accessible Services
2. Develop and maintain central intake and referral program
3. Establishment of accessible sustainable parent education as a community norm
- Establish Parent Place for all community members
- Focus on preventable strategies
- Expand, revamp prenatal services
- Support, expand & sustain literacy programs
- Role modeling parenting programs
4. Development of intra-sectoral community partnerships (Between Health, MCFD, Education, MEIA, Community) and of alternative sources of funding.
5. Assurance that all children will have the opportunity to reach their full potential 2006 The ECD Strategic plan was revisited and the following desired outcomes for the upcoming identified:
- Outcome #1: Our communities are family/child-friendly.
- Outcome #2: Services for young children and their families in our communities are accessible, integrated and comprehensive.
